Dog Pile with Bella on Top

I remember when I first saw Clayton Bailey’s work, it was one of those “a-ha” moments. It was at Leslie’s ceramics in Berkeley. I feel in love again, and it was a visual/aesthetic homecoming. His work has resonated with me and I stumbled across these images while perusing his site recently. Good food for thought about how to incorporate mechanical devices into ceramic sculpture too.
A little know fact: I learned to read on Garry Larson’s Far Side Comic books. My mom used to hide them from me- imagine that, a parent (a teacher no less) hiding books from her young, eager-to-read child. She was afraid that I might grow to have a weird, twisted sense of humor. However, she did not take into account “environmental factors”. I would have to say, that the humor evident in my artwork is definitely genetic!
